How to make turmeric more bioavailable.

Did you know?

Curcumin the bioactive therapeutic compound in Turmeric is actually very hard to absorb without help, and when absorbed properly in the body can have anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-proliferative and anti-angiogenic effects. Which have demonstrated therapeutic efficacy against conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, arthritis, neurological diseases, inflammatory diseases and even cancer.

It’s eliminated from the body very quickly if it’s not paired with the following:

1. Peppercorn! Or rather Piperin (Active compound), stop enzymes breaking down curcumin in the liver.

2. Fats and Oils, curcumin is fat soluble, it dissolves in fat

3. Polysaccharides - Starches!  Curcumin binds to starch molecules to form new complexes making it easy to digest.

Some foods that help: Peppercorn, cream, butter, coconut oil, olive oil, high fat milks like cow, coconut milk & macadamia milk, or polysaccharides milk like soy milk, sweet potatoes, green bananas, potatoes. 🥔🍠🥥

So the next time you treat yourself to a well deserved turmeric latte or a lovely hot chai. Think of these things for maximum absorption and benefit!
